The wind was back – sort of – for Sequoia Yacht Club's Summer Series Race #1 on April 18. The sport boats ruled the podium, and the cruising boats continue to look for more wind. Racing took place in mostly 9 to 11 knots of wind out of the northwest, which, by the end of racing, built to 16. Sailing conditions were idyllic with flat water. The final two reaching legs became exciting, as the division winner, Red Boat, Charley Watt’s Open 6.50, got enough of a wind increase to begin planing, and from 100 yards back overtook Tim Anto’s Melges 24, Daredevil, with an elapsed time difference of one second.
