finish of the 2023 singlehanded transpacific yacht race, part 1July 7-9, 2023 On July 7, the all-volunteer race committee from the Singlehanded Sailing Society arrived in Hanalei Bay just in time to receive the first finishers of the 2023 Singlehanded Transpacific Yacht Race. Jim Quanci on the Cal 40 Green Buffalo was first to finish, spinnaker flying, just after sunset. Jim arrived relaxed but happy to have RC volunteers hop aboard to assist with anchoring in the dark. John Wilkerson on the Express 37 Perplexity arrived second, followed by Michael Polkabla on the other Cal 40 in the race, Solstice. These three had had a competitive race at the front of the 16-boat pack. Within the first two days of arrivals, more than half the fleet had finished. Learn more about the race here. Replay the race on Jibeset here. The delivery back to the mainland is underway; follow the tracker here. Please visit our store to order a high-resolution image or print from this photo gallery.
