Rain fell on the morning of the Great Vallejo Race. Crews bundled up and set off regardless. Though the regatta was more lightly attended than in the pre-COVID era, those who chose not to sail missed out on a remarkably fast race. Most boats had finished at Vallejo Yacht Club by 2 p.m., after starting during the 11:30 to 12:30 hour. PRO Jeff Zarwell sent the racers off in rolling starts, perfectly on time both days. The flood current that helped carry the fleet to Vallejo so swiftly on Saturday combined with light air to slow progress to Richmond YC on Sunday. See the results here.
