ryc's 90th birthday regattaAugust 6, 2022 Richmond Yacht Club celebrated their 90th birthday in early August with a movie night on Thursday, a game night on Friday, a three-part regatta on Saturday, and a dinner-dance on Saturday night, featuring the tunes of Shark Sandwich. El Toros, Bytes and RS dinghies raced in the morning; their first race had a Le Mans start. In the afternoon bigger dinghies (from Lasers to Mercurys) and keelboats (with Wylie Wabbits and Alerion 28s well represented) raced in the Southampton Shoal area and the Portrero Reach. Two elderly wooden boats sailed in their own 'Grande Dame' class: the 100-year-old Bird Boat Cuckoo, and the Hurricane Random. You can learn more about the races on Regatta Network, but don't look for results; as with RYC's Beer Cans, there are none. Please visit our store to order a high-resolution image or print.
