With some help from Vallejo Marina, Vallejo Yacht Club and Richmond Yacht Club, the Singlehanded Sailing Society pulled off the Vallejo 1-2 on the originally scheduled weekend of October 17-18 — a minor miracle in times of pandemic and oppressive wildfire smoke. However, the weekend happened to fall during an October heat wave, which made for pleasant weather but not sailing weather. Only one boat, Scott Easom's J/100 Eight Ball, finished on Saturday. No one finished on Sunday. Vallejo Marine Craft offered much-appreciated hospitality on Sunday morning, with complimentary coffee, donuts and bloody marys — plus dogs and cats to pet.
