Three Bridge Fiasco in Progress

January 29, 2011

"That's one hell of a fiasco out there," said the SSS Race Co-Chair, after popping out on the water for a quick look-see at the Cityfront. After a pretty good start, with just enough wind to counter the ripping ebb, the Three Bridge Fiasco suffered a loss of wind and visibility. From the Golden Gate Yacht Club race deck, the skies lowered enough to obsure Marin County and Angel Island by noon. Drop-outs started trickling in, as a freighter, then a tanker headed out to sea through the race course.

About 305 boats started, out of 368 signed up. We'll have more later. If you started, and dropped out, did you call the race committee? If not, phone the voice mail (see the Sailing Instructions for the number). For information about the race and the Singlehanded Sailing Society, see www.sfbaysss.org.
