Yes, in case you were wondering, Knarrs are wet boats. ©2010 Sergei Zavarin/http://ultimate-yachtshots.smugmug.com |
International Knarr Championship August 15, 2010 The Perkins brothers took the International Knarr Championship, one-two. Jon Perkins and crew (Melissa Purdy on main and tactics, Larry Swift on jib, and Tom Purdy, Melissa's brother, on foredeck) mostly dominated the one-week event, winding up with 15 points to brother Chris's 23. Soren Perhsson of Denmark had been in second place early on, but fell to third. Jon won the IKC previously in 2005 (Oslo, Norway) and 2002 (Bergen, Norway).
St. Francis YC hosted 26 boats from the local San Francisco fleet, Denmark, and Norway for eight races, finishing up yesterday. The IKC rotates between those three venues.
