Singlehanded TransPac Mini-Update June 21, 2010 Go south young man (older men too). All weather predictions look like the EPAC high is dropping down towards the Singlehanded TransPac fleet, now in their third day out from San Francisco. This could be messy for those following the rhumb line. Ronnie Simpson on the Jutson 30 Warriors Wish and John Hayward on the Valiant 40 Dream Chaser are the furthest north, so we shall see if they park it in the mother of all holes. The trimaran Hecla may blast her way through by heading even further south. Max Crittenden on Solar Wind looks good, as does Adrian Johnson on Idefix who may have to dive down to stay with the wind. See the NOAA page at www.atmos.washington.edu/~ovens/loops/wxloop.cgi?mm5d1_wssfc+//72/3 Ben Mewes on Mirage, who returned to Sausalito yesterday morning and took off again last night, has returned again with ongoing charging problems. Al Germain's Wyliecat 30 Bandicoot also had electrical problems which kept Al from checking in, so Bandicoot has also returned.
