Cape Breton Finishes SF Leg First

March 30, 2010

In the Clipper Round the World Race, Cape Breton, the Canadian entry from Nova Scotia, finished the 5,600 nm leg from Quindao, China, to San Francisco first. A small group of boats followed them form the Golden Gate Bridge to the Golden Gate YC docks, and the crew looked surprisingly clean, fit, and happy to be on land.

At the docks another small group of friends welcomed them in a very low key ceremony. Even the U.S. customs officials were laid back with the check-in moving smoothly as the crew departed the boat.

Then the Miller flowed after the customs rituals.

The next boats to arrive are Jamaica Lightning Bolt and Qingdao. As of this evening, they were battling each other for second place about 500 miles off the Coast. You can read all about it at www.clipperroundtheworld.com.
