Westpoint Marina Regatta
Westpoint Marina Regatta
The first ever Westpoint Marina Regatta had a near-marathon course: 25 miles from Treasure Island, around Alcatraz, and then downhill for miles and miles to Redwood City and the new Westpoint Marina. Sequoia YC hosted the race and dinner after, while the new marina provided free berthing for the race boats on Saturday night.
One can never count on exactly how a brand-new regatta will turn out, or how many sailors will sign up, especially with the sailing calendar already so crowded, especially on Saturdays. This one got nine boats in Spinnaker Division, and five in Non-Spinnaker. Everyone who raced was able to finish, with Lani Spund’s Santa Cruz 52 Kokopelli2 first to finish, before 3:30. Patrick Kohlman’s Danlinson 27 Joyicity corrected out to first place in Spinnaker Division.
Results were not yet online by the time we put together this item, but they should be available soon at www.sequoiayc.org.
