She’s here! All the other sailors, SSS race committee volunteers and family members were thrilled to welcome Barbara Euser and her Bristol 34 Islander to Hanalei Bay this afternoon. Barbara crossed the Singlehanded TransPac finish line at about 1234 Hawaii Time. She and her boat were just fine, and had a very pleasant sail, with the aggravating exception of not being able to communicate that fact to anyone else during most of her voyage.
With no battery power to start the engine, Islander anchored under sail. Skip Allan motored over on Wildflower to help Islander back down on her anchor. Here he tosses her a tow line. See the schooner in the background? That’s Spike Africa. © 2008 norcalsailing.com
Barbara’s drink of choice after anchoring? An ice cold bottle of Chandon champagne shared with husband Dean and the RC. Aloha Barbara!
