“I am new to the fleet,” writes Michael Radziejowski, speaking of the International Canoe fleet, “and yet after this event I feel like I have been part of the IC family for twenty years. This was probably best three weeks of my life.” Michael is 16, and is speaking of the IC Worlds and Pre-Worlds in McCrea, Australia (near Melbourne).
Coming in 18th overall, he won Third Place in the IC Junior World Championship.

Mikey has updated his blog, www.mikeyradz.blogspot.com, with a recap and photos. We won’t steal any more of his thunder here, except to add his appreciation for all the assistance he received: “I would like to thank everybody who has supported me.”
The new IC World champion is an Australian, Hayden Virtue. Americans did particularly well in the Developmental class, with Chris Maas (an Alameda boatbuilder), Steve Clark, and Oliver Moore winning the top three spots. Richmond YC IC guru Del Olsen finished sixth with his brand new DC Donkey, a ride of his own design and build. See www.icworlds.org for more.
Fellow Richmond YC members and 29er National Champions Max Fraser and David Liebenberg have just wrapped up the 29er Worlds in Melbourne, while JV Gilmour and Matt Noble crewed in the 49ers Worlds held concurrently. For more on that event, see www.sailmelbourne.com.au/events.
Love,
