Rolex Big Boat Series Day 2
The wind picked up a bit for the second day of racing in St. Francis YC’s Rolex Big Boat Series. The world righted itself in the J/105 fleet after Thursday’s topsy-turvy day. Getting the gun were perennial leaders Aquavit in Race 3 and Good Timin’ in Race 4.
Leaders after 4 out of 7 races include Andy Costello’s 1D35 Double Trouble, Bartz Schneider’s Express 37 Expeditious (see photo above), Jason Woodley’s J/105 Risk, and Barry Lewis’s J/120 Chance. Philippe Kahn’s Pegasus has taken over the lead in the new Melges 32 fleet with three bullets. Bustin’ Loose, Jeff Pulford’s Sydney 38, with Bill Erkelens calling tactics, leads that fleet. John Kilroy’s TP 52 Samba Pa Ti continues to top IRC-A, Lani Spund’s SC 52 Kokopelli2 has the lead by one point in IRC-B, the new J/122 TKO, sailed by Dave Kirby with J/Boat rep Norman Davant aboard, is ahead by one point in IRC-C, and defending champion Gerard Sheridan’s Tupelo Honey is ahead by two points in IRC-D.
Racing continues Saturday and Sunday. To catch up on standings in all the fleets, see host club St. Francis YC’s site at www.stfyc.com.
