Charlie Arms Named Educator of the Year

Maybe you remember seeing the yellow 1D-48 Cal Maritime (now the white Bodacious+) racing around San Francisco Bay or in the Rolex Big Boat Series. The college kids kept the mast, and the hard-to-sail boat, right-side up. That program and the other sailing programs at Cal Maritime Academy are possible because of the leadership of Charlie Arms, who has been the Director of Sailing there for 12 years. She's also the coach of the varsity team, which took fifth place in the 2010 Student Yachting World Championships in France.

For her commitment to sailing education, she has won the California Boating Educator of the Year from the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. She was the only Californian to receive this year's honors. For the complete story, see: www.csum.edu/web/about/sailing-director-charlie-arms-named-boating-educator-of-the-year.
