Get Along Little DOGie
Get Along Little DOGie
Golden Gate Yacht Club is busy this weekend. First, with their popular Seaweed Soup Cup midwinter race on Saturday. Then, in the wee hours of Monday morning, some of their guys will be match-racing a Swiss team in Spain for another Cup. (Actually, in Valencia, racing will begin at the reasonable hour of 1000.)
We’re thrilled to announce that two correspondents from San Francisco will be reporting from Valencia for us, so those of us back home can get the inside scoop on the Deed of Gift (DOG) event.
Many viewing options are available for watching the ‘away game’, but broadcast and cable television are not among them. For detailed information about online viewing, see www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/blog/2010/02/to-watch-33rd-americas-cup.html. If you’re on the West Coast and want to watch it live, you’ll need to be up by 0100. That gives you a few hours to nap after the Sunday afternoon football game.
It’s a best of three match, with racing every other day: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday if necessary, assuming the weather cooperates each race day. The event website is www.americascup.com/en/index.php. They have a nice Cup, but it doesn’t come with free hot dogs.
