Collegiate Intersectionals
Thirty-two U.S. colleges met on the San Francisco Cityfront to duke it out in an intersectional meet hosted by St. Francis YC this weekend. If any of the out-of-towners were nervous about the notorious Cityfront wind, they’ll have to hold onto to those fears for some other regatta, as the westerlies went from mild to moderate and never further.
Teams hailed from as far away as the University of Hawaii, Vermont and Charleston, and from Washington in the north to San Diego in the south, with Stanford hosting and heavy representation from California colleges.
In eight races over two days, Washington College won overall with Connor Blouin and Seth Olson sailing in A and Derek Packard and John MacLellan sailing in B; UC Santa Barbara won the A division with John Heineken and Morgane Renoir; and Stanford won the B division with Justin Doane/Oliver Riihiluoma and Alex Dunlap/Ale Lynberg - with the lowest score of the regatta (that’s a good thing), just 40 points.
