Richmond YC is a local bastion of International 14 sailing, but even stronger fleets hail from elsewhere, like Seattle, San Diego, the UK and Australia. RYC was pleased to host some of the strongest American teams in the International 14 Nationals this Friday-Sunday. A team from the Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle, Kris Bundy and Jamie Hansler, won the 6-race, 1-throwout series, beating the San Diego team of Brad Ruetenik and reigning world champion crew Matt Noble. Matt had previously won the I-14 Worlds (held in Warnemunde, Denmark, in July), as crew for Brit Archie Massey.

The host club didn’t make too shabby a showing, however. The top NorCal team hailed from RYC and finished fifth: Ted Rogers and Tim Burke. RYC teams also occupied the 7th, 10th and 12th spots out of 20 boats. Alan Laflin finished 14th for St. Francis YC, with RYC Past Commodore Eric Arens in the crew position.
