This year for the first time, Bay Area Youth Sailing (BAYS) has started a winter series for Optis, 420s and Lasers. Seven Lasers, sailed by three girls and four boys, were out on the Cityfront this weekend. On Saturday, the racing got started late. The first warning was scheduled for 1130. But the morning’s easterly breeze, sure to die out and clock around to the west, combined with a raging ebb, prompting a delay for more than two hours until the westerly got established. Marks were set close to shore, and the kids got in six out of eight possible races.
