Unleashed Has Been Releashed

September 8, 2012

Consternation turned to apprehension when one of Club Nautique's Alameda-based sailboats was stolen. The 2007 Hunter 41 Unleashed was taken from her slip on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she was spotted anchored off of Vallejo Marina at approximately 1800 hours and then seen transiting Mare Island Strait shortly after that. Then word came that she had apparently been used for a child abduction. On Thursday, Club Nautique reported that, "Coast Guard duty officer Corinne Gaines said a C-130 aircraft from the agency has located the vessel and is monitoring it from the air until crews can get to the scene by boat. The boat has been located about 50 miles off of Santa Cruz and a Cutter is on its way to intercept." On Friday night authorities reclaimed the two toddlers and the errant boat from the father who had taken them. The kids, a three-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy, are fine, and were reunited with their mom at Coast Guard Station Monterey. You can read the full story at www.sfgate.com.
