Farewell to Gene Buck

March 26, 2011

Corinthian Master Mariner Gene Buck departed this world on March 17 at the age of 84. A native San Franciscan, Frank Eugene Buck graduated from Lincoln High School and UC Berkeley. After four years in Paris, he and his wife Pat and two daughters, Marguerite and Gisèle, moved to Tiburon in 1964 and joined the Corinthian YC the same year. He is well known on the Bay for racing his Farallon Clipper Ouessant. His brother Keith Buck, also a CYC member, races the Farr 36 Petard.

The Master Mariners Benevolent Association writes, "When we learn details on when a memorial service is planned for Gene we will notify members. If you have remembrances you would like to share in the next Shellback issue, please send them to by April 6. We are very sad to have lost Gene so suddenly and our heartfelt condolences go out to Pat and their family during this difficult time."
