The View from the Beach

February 7, 2011

The Farmers Almanac 2011 predictions called for last weekend's weather as: FEBRUARY 2011: temperature 53° (2° below avg.); precipitation 1" (2" below avg.); Feb 1-2: Sunny, chilly; Feb 3-10: Showers, then sunny, cool. But what do farmers know?

On Saturday the Golden Gate YC midwinter race committee had to postpone for an hour due to lack of wind, but that didn't stop a nice 15-knot northwesterly from filling in. At noon, one of the racers exclaimed "Here it is, now let's go sailing."

The cityfolk came out to enjoy the balmy temperatures at the beach, to play with their dogs and kids and watch sailboat racing, some of it only a few feet from Rover chasing tennis balls in the surf.
